Your BlueJay is learning at an MDC school! 

Kirksville Elementary classrooms are implementing math strategies and activities based upon the research of the Math Design Collaborative (MDC). Teachers partner with a math instructional coach, the administration team and district leadership to look at teaching data and set goals that impact student achievement. 

What Does MDC Learning Look Like ?
Teachers participating in the MDC work are working to:
Ensure that students are aware of WHAT they are learning, WHY they are learning it and HOW they will be successful.
 
Increase student engagement through the use of:
  • Discovery lessons
  • Rich tasks
  • Multiple learning strategies
  • Student chosen tools & manipulatives
  • Student self-assessment & self reflection
  • Student discourse
